The massively green salad with sesame oil

The massively green salad with sesame oil

Our salads are usually quite colourful and have at least three different ingredients apart from the dressing. This one here would go under the 'special edition' salad because it is green and just green, and still has at least three different ingredients.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Making the massively green salad:
    • Cut cos lettuce leafs into long thin stripes, cut the stripes in half and place into large bowl.
    • Part the celery stalk lenghtwise into four thin stripes and cut stripes into very small pieces, less than half centimeter, and add to the cos lettuce.
    • Cut shallot stalk into very thin rings and add to the salad.
    • Add a pinch of salt and the olive and sesame oil. Mix thoroughly. Keep in the fridge until served.

Note

Note: Sesame oil has a very dominating taste. Look at it more like a concentrate rather than oil for cooking. Best to add it in drops rather than in measures of tsp.

I love eating food with a well balanced and rich taste. And even more, I love to make it from scratch and treat it like a piece of art, culinary and visually.

While you may have scoured zillions of recipe site and tried a handful of these beautifully presented creations, you may have noticed that some of them didn't work out that well or didn't look as they were 'supposed' to look.

In many cases this is because the ingredients used are very localised. The wheat used in one region, country or climate zone is quite different from one at another place. So are the spices, meats and vegetables. So, give yourself a little slack and don't take the ingredient measures here as absolute. Look at what you'd like to achieve and adjust to your taste and locale.
